Question about transitions in Sony Vegas

Hi all,

I'm having issues with transitions in Sony Vegas. I'm using Vegas pro 9, and I'm encountering a lot of pixelization during the transition from one clip to the next. I've tried several different types of transitions (ie cross-blur, etc), but it doesn't seem to change anything. Is there any way to counter this? Are there specific transitions that work better than others as far as image quality? I'm coming from a fairly newb-y perspective so any thoughts would be immensely helpful!

Ok, so I want to use those overlays that you find on YouTube and like the tutorial a couple of days ago. But I can't find a good program to get the moving overlays / sparkles (i hate calling them) but anyways --- I can't find a good program that could convert them to a usable AVI --- something that's suitable for editting. What do you guys use or recommend?

I am leaning towards this one ; Pazera Free FLV to AVI converter.

Will it get the job done?
